Fantasy draws its inspiration from Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, one of his most admired pieces and a staple of Americana music. Set in the context of a woodwind quintet (a juxtaposition of the original brass ensemble), the piece explores the melody of the work in a variety of approaches, though the literal melody is never heard.
